Currently in a state of hair hating and wanting to go through a drastic change of some sort. It must be something in the water as I seem to be having more split ends that I have ever had and my hair feels like straw. I am ALWAYS having a bad hair day, yet I’m too scared, that with the lack of Chinese I speak, going to a hairdresser here will end in more disaster than a permanent fix to my hair. So, as a result, more and more often now, you will see me with my hair in a pony tail and or in a bun here in Shanghai, something I am not entirely happy with as I hate the thought of barring my oversized forehead to the world.

Originally, Mandy edited these with an over saturated look in mind, but since posting a black and white edit on my Instagram and getting some positive feedback, I decided to post these image in the same black and white VSCO edit on Instagram.

I’m not one for colour nor and I one for much print either, but I found this dress on one of my first expeditions to Zara when I first arrived in Shanghai. My obsession with marble, I can safely say has stemmed from this dress to which now I want to find a marbled textured fixie, jewellery, phone cases, computer cases and as the main source of my renovation material (I’d love to have an all marbled apartment, floor to ceiling) to the family apartment here in Shanghai.

Busting out some “model” moves, which I wasn’t entirely too comfortable about, but had fun making fun of myself and being extremely surprised with the end product. The best thing about being photographed by a friend, is that there is non of that initial awkwardness in front of the camera. Love how these photos turned around against the contrast of the concrete and against such an amazing backlight.

1933 老场坊

Not many words needed for this amazing concrete structure called 1933 (上海1933老场坊) a building I now understand why, is so #instafamous of a scenic photography destination here in Shanghai. I could spend hours just staring at the various perspectives created by each individual or a combination of the 26 air walks.  These walkways; a series of complex pathways look almost as if a physical manifestation of paintings from the infamous M.C Escher himself.

Hiding from the rain on a Sunday afternoon after a LONG lunch with some amazing girls here in Shanghai, resulted in an impromptu shoot at the iconic SOHO designed by none other than Zaha Hadid.

This stairway has become a tourist attraction here in Shanghai with her ever present and distinctive neofuturistic architectural style. Finding places with dramatic back drops have become somewhat easy in Shanghai. From modern, futuristic to charming and whimsical, Shanghai seems to be a playground for photographers and instagramers alike.

I’m finally really starting to enjoy this city.
